Togolese teak is highly resistant to pathogen attack, but variability in natural durability and wood colour exists between plantations and geographical zones. Therefore, further informations concerning the influences of environmental parameters and their interaction on teak wood quality is necessary; and could be use through tree breeding and sylviculture programs in Togo. In order to examinate the influence of soil property on teak wood characters, three hundred and twenty one samples from 20 trees were exposed to two fungi: Antrodia sp., and Coriolus versicolor. Depending on type of soil on which they grew, trees have been selected randomly in two different sites in the same climate area in Togo. The colour parameters of each sample were determined using the CIELAB system and total extractive content was determined using Accelerated Solvant Extraction (ASE). Results show that trees which grew on hydromorphic tropical ferruginous (HTF) soil present significantly lower total extractive content (11.12 %) than trees from drained ferruginous soil (12.79%). Samples from HTF soil were redder and lighter, the yellow-blueness a* was significantly higher. All the trees were highly durable with regard to Coriolus versicolor. With regard to Antrodia sp., 90% of the trees from both sites were highly durable and only 10% were durable. However, sample from HTF soil present a greater %mass loss with regard to the two fungi.
