Abstract |
The use of Xylopia frutescens extract as a C38 steel corrosion inhibitor in 1 M HCl solution was investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. Potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that Xylopia frutescens extract behaves as mixed-type inhibitor. Graphical methods are illustrated by synthetic data to determine the parameter of CPE (α Q). The adsorption of the extract constituents was further discussed in view of angmuir adsorption isotherm. The effect of temperature on the inhibition efficiency was investigated using EIS and potentiodynamic polarization. SEM and EDX observations confirmed the existence of protective inhibitor film on metal surface. © The Electrochemical Society. |

Les forêts tropicales représentent plus de 50 % de la surface des forêts et du stock de carbone forestier mondiaux. Alors que le rythme de la déforestation tend à diminuer, elles font face au changement climatique qui risque de profondément modifier leur fonctionnement. Les migrations d’ espèces telles qu’ elles se sont déroulées au cours du Pléistocène ne sont plus possibles aujourd’ hui car les paysages tropicaux sont largement anthropisés. Les espèces forestières vont donc devoir s’ adapter (ou non) en particulier à une augmentation du stress hydrique. Les modes de gestion des forêts devront intégrer de nouvelles connaissances sur la vulnérabilité des espèces et évoluer pour réduire les interactions potentiellement négatives entre perturbations et déficit hydrique. Identifier les compromis entre une exploitation forestière en situation de déficit hydrique et une augmentation des risques d’ incendie constitue, en particulier, un véritable enjeu. En zone sèche, les facteurs liés au changement climatique sont imbriqués avec d’ autres facteurs de changement, mais des innovations en matière de gestion des formations boisées permettent d’ envisager leur permanence à long terme. |
